We're Open !

It seems like only yesterday that we moved our quirky French brasserie down to mid Devon, from south east London. It was in fact, nearly three months ago!

We celebrated by officially opening the La Petite Bouchée pop up supper club from our new base in Witheridge last Friday evening. We were fully booked for both Friday and Saturday evenings, and each of our customers had carefully chosen their menu beforehand, enabling us to buy only what we needed for the meals and ensuring minimum waste which is very high up on our agenda.

I won't lie, I was incredibly nervous the closer that Friday evening got! Whilst I knew that we’d achieved lots in London, doing as well here in rural Devon, and building up a loyal customer base, might be a completely different matter. I never take anything for granted. We were joined our wonderful friend and the Manager of La Petite Bouchée from our London days which made opening weekend just that little bit more special and the whole team were amazing !

Guests tucked in to mussels from Exmouth, steak bavette from Broadclyst, monkfish caught that day from the north coast of Devon , cheese from South Molton and, (more important to some than others!), the wine and champagne, from Reims and the south west of France.

We’ve received some great feedback already including this:

“The Côte de Boeuf was outstanding! A wonderful evening, thank you 😊

I can't wait for my next visit!!”

“We had a very fun evening, enjoying local mussels, beautiful, succulent steaks, monkfish and the most delicious cheeseboard. To top it off, the wine list was superb!”

It was only the week before last that we met many of you at the Exeter Food and Drink Festival.

Our beef suppliers Burrow Farm kindly let us take over their grills for a few hours so that we could cook up some beautiful Red Ruby steak baguettes, with my own homemade Black Tor Brewery beer mustard, Béarnaise and rocket. It was a brilliant event, and so good to meet lots of locals and foodies from across the region. We’ll definitely be going again next year.

We've just finished service here for the weekend and met some great people. If you haven’t booked yet but would like to do so, click here.

(UPDATE: We'd like to sincerely apologise to our guests for Friday's late notice cancellation. Sadly Caroline was taken very ill and blue lighted into hospital as an emergency. She's fighting back today and will hopefully be home with us all soon and ordering up some more of our amazing wine. You thirsty lot ! )
